Does the airport in Punta Cana have an ATM?

I'm just wondering where I can get some local currency when I arrive.

Didn't see one when we were there in Feb but I might not have noticed it. No reason to get any local currency, unless you are not from the US. US currrency is accepted everywhere the tourists are likely to be.

Respect

We saw one next to the phone booths that was out of service. My boyfriend then had to walk about 5 minutes to one at the far end of the airport where there was apparently a bank.

If you really want local currency, get the least you may need since you cannot convert it back. The only time I felt it was needed is when the conversion was, let's say, $5.10, then they would ask for $6.

You can always exchange your US bills for Dominican Peso's at the front desk of your hotel....MOST of them offer money exchange services.
