Over the past decade, my wife, now 9yr old and I have been lucky enough to travel a fair amount in the Caribbean.

We went to Caneel a few years ago when our child was still of "child center"age. It was a "good" center not great. The main "Caneel" beach is really nice for kids and overall the whole property is large and casual. Feels like a camp. Rooms however are just rooms and if you like to have a space away from the kids, the only way to do this is to get a 2nd room.(I really like to get up early and let the girls sleep so I look for accomodations with a sleeping area and also living area.Food=expensive

3 years ago we went to Nevis Four Seasons. It's better set up for kids of all ages as it has a two distinct areas (one for younger kids and then a high tech game room for the teens.
The property too is spread out and there pools are very nice (2) Food = espensive. Large rooms though not a private sleeping area if you dont spring for a huge room. Kids menu available

Last year we took quick trip to Ritz Montego Bay. Very pretty property, great pool, so so beach. You can reserve a suite if you want a private sleeping area. The kids club there is not all that great if that is important.
Kids menu available.

A few years ago we went to Half Moon in Motego Bay. Great property..almost like a city unto itself. You can bike ride, play croque (sp), hike, horseback ride and I think they now have a dolphin thing there. Their kids club is off by itself. I was not all that impressed with it really. Very nice pools though and beach is good too. Kids menu available.

Hope this helps At some of these properties you can get a meal plan if you like. When we went to the Ritz , we did because it was off season and a REALLY good deal. We had a choice of about 4 restaurants and it worked out very well for us.

Ok....hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions!

We have since our son was 15 mos. Took him to India then and we have gone every year at least once since. We just completed one with him and he is nearly 22!

We have traveled with our kids since they were very young: Cozumel, Ixtapa, Grand Cayman, and this summer to Caneel Bay. We loved our Caneel experience because of the beaches - but the pointof this vacation was to be WITH our kids. We snorkeled constantly as a family, had the 2nd room (half price in summer), and spent the time together. Life's so crazy it home - it was a nice, quiet place to reconnect without the limbo dancers pulling them away. We did enjoy our Club Med Ixtapa experience when they were 3 and 6 - and they needed to be entertained a bit more. I love our family trips!

I have been looking hard at Cap Juluca on Anguilla. They have a kids program as one of their amenities. Depending on how old your children are it could be intriguing. The down side is that they apparently do not have a pool. There is another resort on Anguilla, Maillouhana(sp) that has a pirate ship boat and playground, but I don't think it has a kids program. If you come up with something great please share!

Wills: We finally decided on mallihouana...the kids waterslide and pirate ship was the draw...Our children ages are 4 and 10...we are travelling with a family who has a 1yr old, 2.5 year old and 5 yr old, so we needed some sort of diversion for them....we're not going until feb presidents' week... so i can't report back until then...good luck planning your trip.

lisac,

I think you made a great choice and wish you and your family a great holiday.

The new spa looks fantastic too (for Mummy's time).
