Does anyone here know about the "CAT" ferry from Ft Lauderdale to Bahamas?
I received my newsletter from Frommers, and there was an article about the new CAT ferry from Ft Lauderdale to Grand Bahama Island. I thought this would be a good way to get my husband on a boat. He hates cruise ships (he refused to step on a cruise ship) But since this is a 2 hour ride maybe he will consider it...

I don't have first hand knowledge, but I am a TA. Some of my collegues in South Florida won;t sell it because of "break downs". If you want to get your husband on a ship, try a 3 night cruise instead of the little "cat".

It's probably sailed back up to Bar Harbor, where it operates in the summer from Bar Harbor to Nova Scotia.
I went on it twice in 2002 to Nova Scotia..... awesome boat, plumes of spray going back hundreds of yards as it accelerates to 50 knots !

Hello to all!
If you are looking for an ordeal - go by Bahama Balearia Express, the most terrible ferry service you can get to know.
We had booked a trip right now, in November 2012. It seemed to be a good idea to go by CAT from Fort Lauderdale to Freeport/Grand Bahamas. BUT:
They sell tickets for ferries which usually do not go and then leave you alone in the harbour, no matter whether you need an urgent connecting flight or not. No information about any changes of schedule. And if you claim your damage they don`t react; you get an answer only after calling for a lawyer. And then they tell you lies like poor wheather conditions, although their staff already said, that they printed wrong tickets. No sevice, no solution, no interest in customers. So go on, pay for nothing.
SO PLEASE DO NOT BOOK, YOU WILL REGRET IT
