One of the things that I love about St. Vincent & the Grenadines is that jetskis are BANNED. I hate the wretched things.

DITTO to that last, I couldn't agree more!! One reason we chose to go to Anguilla a few years ago, and have been going back every summer since, is that jetskis are banned there also. You can't imagine how annoying the noise and smell is to people who just want peace and quiet on the beach - for several years we went to Orient Beach in St. Martin and while we loved the hotel and beach itself, the constant noise from the jetskis was reason for us not to want to go back there. Also, it feels very dangerous when they come in close to shore and close to the bathers.

How about just being constantly hounded to rent one? Annoying. Far more annoying than the noise.

Amen about Jet Skis. Didn't Jimmy Buffet, in his more youthful days, blow up a bunch of them at a seaside bar because they were tearing through a marsh area, ruining the mango saplings and disturbing the egrets and migrating ducks? At any rate, people on Abaco hate them as well for all the reaons curiousx, Carola22, and Lizzi518 mentioned. When we were helping a cow manatee in the Florida Keys, by offering both fresh water from a garden hose due, jet skis arrived in the Florida Bay and roused them from the dock where they were seeking shelters. Hurray for Jimmy Buffet! Robert

I think that was the book Jimmy Buffett wrote, "Where is Joe Merchant" about blowing up jet skis.

I hope someone actually bothered to check the page I posted - it is about jet skiers in Half Moon Bay who are behaving badly - endangering the corals, snorkelers and themselves. Personally I do not jet ski.

Apologies to you JMM; the title of your post gave me the wrong idea, and I responded without bothering to check the link you gave. I have done so now; you are quite right to post this link and give this warning - I can only imagine how damaging jetskis must be to the environment.

Great! - that is what I was hoping people will do - pass it on to encourage responsible behaviour.
