Do I have enought time?
Hi,
Leaving in June for 4 nights 5 days. Can we cram these things in for the time were there? Not sure if the Naval Dockyard or St Georges would take a full day or not. -Naval Dockyard -St. Georges -Walk the Somerset portion of Railway trail -Snorkel.... either on our own or maybe a glassbotoom/snorkel tour. - Parasailing -Beach time We arrive on Sat, but from reading posts alot is closed on Sunday, do the water excursions run on Sundays? Are day passes the way to go as far as ferry and bus transportation? Or should get tokens or a book of 15? Thanks! |
Dockyard - half day
St. George's - half day (both of these assume you're hitting the highlights and not poking in to every nook and cranny) Somerset railway trail, two hours at a leisurely stroll Snorkel - add this in while you're in St. George's - Tobacco Bay to Ft. St. Catherine on your own and make St. George's a longer day (or Snorkel Park in Dockyard - see a recent post I replied to with very specific info re: Snorkel Park) Parasailing - leaves out of Dockyard, hour and a half trip, add this to your Dockyard day - BOOK THIS ASAP, like NOW, before you leave. A lot of stores are closed or have limited hours on Sunday, but when ships are in they extend their hours, and the excursion companies rely on cruise ships, so they'll most likely have stuff going - do not wait until you get here to book excursions. If you're here for 5 days and using public transport heavily, and don't want to worry about how many tickets per trip, etc, get a pass. If you can do a little planning and want to cut costs, you can get books of tickets, share them and save money. Passes can't be shared. (Planning - look at the bus/ferry map, know your trip, count how many tickets you'll need.) Have a great time!!! |
Thanks so much..
The ferries look like a wonderful way to travel. So if we decided to do the Naval Dockyard on Sunday, shops and attractions should be open? Are there changing rooms at Tobacco Bay? |
Dockyard should be open on Sunday, but if there's no ship docked, hours might be limited.
There is a concession stand/equipment rental/restroom building at T.B., it was shut down for renovations last time I was out there about three weeks ago, I'm not sure if it's opened back up yet. When are you visiting? The ferries are great. I like to take the pink route round trip with first time visitors - it's the cheapest harbor boat tour you'll find and an excellent way to get a close up of the old cottages along the waterfront. |
I'm coming the second week in June, staying at the Pompano.
The Pink route sounds fun. I was thinking of taking the Ferry from the Dockyard to St. Georges also. The last time we were there was over 10 years ago, very excited to come back... Older and wiser.. LOL |
I have some friends coming to visit the same time, I was hoping to get to St. George's to get an update on Tobacco Bay for you before you got here. If I hear anything soon, I'll re-post.
