Do I have enough time in San Juan?

I was planning a trip to puerto rico and now it needs to be cut short a little bit... I would be arriving late in the evening on a Thursday and then flying back out on Monday at 6 pm.... is this enough time to spend in San Juan or is this rushing my trip a little too much???? We don't plan on travelling far out of San Juan, just to the rainforest one day... I am just worried it won't be enough time.... any ideas? Thanks!

I've done a trip to San Juan in that amount of time. It's enough to do the rainforest, Old San Juan and some of the other major highlights.

Definitely-- in fact, we usually go Thursday to sunday when we go. You'll have plenty of time. You can make the trip as full or as relaxed as you want. enjoy!

Actually with that much time, I'd suggest you make a short trip out to El Yunque. You can do the "sights" in Old San Juan in a leisurely day, and spend a day on the beach, and then do a half-day trip to El Yunque.

Yeah, I definitely want to go out there.... another question...i am just going with another female, we are both 24... is san juan safe for 2 gals??? Is there any where we should stay away from or is everything swell?

I think San Juan is certainly safe for 2 women traveling together if you exercise reasonable caution. I'd advise that you take cabs at night rather than do a lot of walking to and from your hotel if you go out, and I've heard of people getting mugged while walking on the beach late at night. But otherwise, the tourist areas of San Juan are pretty busy both day and night, and you can walk safely in Condado and the parts of Old San Juan you are likely to visit. During the day, you'll have no problems. I don't advise walking around Isla Verde at night because the area isn't very conducive to walking and there will be fewer people out on the street.

Last thing, I promise.... just wanna make sure I am getting a good price... roundtrip, nonstop with taxes is $315????

That doesn't sound great, but not awful- have you checked all of the airlines (ie, Expedia/Travelocity, etc, Southwest and Spirit- I don't know whether there are any other low cost carriers that don't deal with them).

Also, everyone says to do the bioluminescent bay- there's one in Fajardo, about an hour or so outside of San Juan, and some companies will offer transportation from your hotel there.

hmmm, i just posted to this but it didn't go through-- in any event, I think that is a GREAT airfare. We never can go to PR for under 400!
