Do cell phones have service in Vieques,PR?
 

We will be in Vieques next week and I have Embarq as my wireless service...my husband has Nextel..just wondering if either get service on Vieques?

I don't know about those particular cell phone providers, but we have Cingular/AT&T, and it worked great on Vieques a few weeks ago! Have a great time!

Nextel, which is a part of Sprint, should work on most of Vieques, but you are going to have spots with no service. I'm not sure about Embarq, but most all of the U.S. cell phone companies work in Puerto Rico, and everyone there has a cell phone. You should check with your company.

Last year my Cingular worked fine from most of the island that we saw. But we did encounter a couple on Secret Beach who had no cell phone service on their provide (don't know who it was). They had a flat tire and needed to call their rental company, so we called for them.

My Alltel phone works in town and picks up signal on parts of green beach (from the mainland). It does not work on Navio or the military beaches.
