Dividing time between Dominica and St Kitts Nevis

My husband and I have 18 nights to spend after a week's family reunion on Antigua. We are booked to fly home from St Kitts on February 17th. The plan is to fly to Dominica as we love quieter places, nature and walking. Then on to St Kitts Nevis. The dilemma is how to split the time. Would 12 nights on Dominica in 2 or 3 different places and 6 for St Kitts Nevis work?
Very grateful for suggestions before we book the local flights.

The answer really depends on what you want to do on each island. Dominica is an eco-tourists delight with hundreds of miles of hiking trails, dozens of waterfalls, scores of hot springs and over 200 sq. miles of rainforest. You could use all of your 18 days trying to explore it all - so, yes, 12 days there would be fine if those types of things appeal to you. For us we found 3 full days on Dominica to be quite sufficient - but that's us, you may feel different.

Now, I hope you do realize that St. Kitts and Nevis are two separate islands. Was it your intention to spend multiple days on both of those islands or just stay on one and visit the other for a day trip? The answer to this may affect how to best allocate your time.

There's no right or wrong answer to your question, only different options.

Personally, I'd spend 6 days on Dominica, 6 days on Nevis and 6 days on St. Kitts. That way you get to visit three different islands and have more than enough time on each island to see and fully experience all they have to offer.

One last hint - getting between Dominica and St. Kitts or Nevis is not always easy or inexpensive. Air Sunshine only flies a couple of days a week between Dominica and Nevis and LIAT only does connecting flights via St. Martin or Antigua so you many have to alter your travel days to accommodate the airline scheduling.

Thank you for your response. Dominica with walking trails and rainforest certainly appeals. I know St Kitts and Nevis are two separate islands and I like the sound of visiting Nevis though accommodation seems expensive. We will fly to Dominica from Antigua but have to go to St Kitts via there as well I believe. I hadn't heard of Air Sunshine so will investigate.
