Direct flights from SJU to which caribbean islands?

Other than anguilla and nevis, what other flights can one get to the caribbean from SJU- preferably on AA?

You'll have your pick from SJU as that is AA's hub.

Antigua, St. Kitts, St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, Grenada, Canouan, Dominica, Barbados, St. Vincent, Bonaire, Aruba, Trinidad, etc.

From SJU you can get non-stop flights to Anguilla, St. Martin, St. Kitts, Nevis, Antigua, Guadalupe, Aruba, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Tortola, St. Thomas, and St. Croix. I believe you can get to all these via American Eagle. There might be a few others.

wow- i didn't realize there were so many. Thank you!

Unless something changed since Sept AA does not fly into St. Vincent's ET Joshua airport. Years ago they did but not recently. I believe it has something to do with the length of the runway. AA flies into Canuoan which is an island much further down the Grenadines chain. The only commercial flight into ET Joshua is LIAT.

I couldn't find the AA flight to Canuoan from SJU?

It looks like there are no nonstops from SJU to CIW. The flight stops in St. Lucia. I'm assuming you were really looking for nonstop flights.

It seems that for a long weekend trip, the problem you are going to have in trying to get to some of these further down south islands like the Grenadines, will be your travel time. While you can get there from SJU, the flight from SJU may not leave until later in the day which means you've really wasted a day just to travel. Then you have to look at your choices for return flights. You don't want to be stuck with a very early morning return flight, which means you technically just have 2 days at your destination. To me, that's not a relaxing getaway.

I definitely agree with you-- i'd never try to do a trip with that flight via st. lucia-- i was definitely looking at direct from SJU. Anguilla, Nevis, etc would be do-able. thanks!

If you want to go to the Grenadines, then you should look at flights through Barbados rather than Puerto Rico. That's the main connecting hub, using Mustique Airways, SVG Air, or LIAT. The American Eagle flight used to go through both San Juan and Barbados; it might be just from Barbados now.

You can get to most of the major islands via San Juan on American, though.

If you're looking for a short trip, then don't forget Vieques.

emcash did you visit AAs site? I did out of curiosity and you can get to Canuoan but it is via SLU. If you are traveling for a long weekend the Grenadines are probably much too far away. I visit at various times of the year and it usually takes 10-12 hrs or an overnight from PIT. I have traveled there via SJU, SLU, GND and BGI. Connections have become worse in recent years. What time you get there depends on the connecting flight. Best to checkout all the travel sites when traveling to the Grenadines. For a long weekend SXM, BVIs, USVI possibly Barbados are most likely your best bet. SVG Air and Mustique Airways are charter comapanies.
Good luck
