Dinner in Condado - Where ?

We are staying one night next month at
Coral Princess Inn
1159 Magdalena Ave., Condado
Santurce, Puerto Rico

We will need a nice dinner for that night. Local cuisine, nothing overly fancy [after 12 hours of flying] would work.

Thanks
Deb

Thanks, I will check them out. It is always helpful to have suggestions when you are visiting a place for the first time.

For 'local' we like Metropol. There's a few of them with one in Isla Verde which is very close to Condado.

We had a great meal at a Mexican restaurant in Condado.

Based on rave reviews on Fodors and Trip Advisor we went to Miró Marisquería for dinner. It was across the street from the Marriott Stellaris we were staying at. I absolutely loved it. Being from Boston we are picky seafood eaters but this was an amazing meal. The service was also exceptional, very attentive. I had Codfish Empanadilla for an appetizer. I had cod with garlic cream sauce that was perfect. I became a convert to garlic pasta which I had as a side. If you like garlic you will love it, lots of fresh garlic and so yummy.

LOL! I live in the SW - the last type of cuisine I want in Puerto Rico is Mexican. Thanks though :)

Are any of these within walking distance of where we are staying as we won't have a car?

7 days and counting!

I just realized how late it will be when we land - 9:15pm.

How long will it take for us to grab a taxi and get to hotel?

Will restaurants still be serving dinner? It will only be 7:15 pm for us, as we will still be on Mountain Time. Hmm, does PR do daylight savings? Now I am really confused.

PR does not observe daylight savings time according to google.

Hopefully, someone will chime in on a dining spot for a late arrival.

Have fun Deb!!

Looks like Metropol may not be within walking distance?

Would we better off taking a taxi at 10 pm or walking to a place near hotel?

Ropa Vieja Grill looks like is serves dinner til 10:30 and Metropol till 11pm. We'd prefer to walk if is close and safe at that hour.

Any additional thoughts? This is for next Wednesday night.

Thanks,
Deb

Hi Deb!

I also replied in FB but here it goes anyway...

Condado is safe to walk, no worries about it.

I would estimate that you will be going out for dinner around 10:30, places will be winding down but I think that you should not have major problems.

Metropol (Cuban cusine) would not be within walking distance. Its just by the airport.

The classic Puerto Rico cuisine restaurant in Condado is Ajili-Mojili, they are very touristic but good and not outrageusly priced. I'm not sure how late they stay open. It would be a 15-20 minute walk from Magdalena. The hotel can check if you are too late for you.

Another restaurant is Yerba Buena (Ashford Ave.) , it has a more modern take on local ingredients.

I like very much Ropa Vieja, it is cuban cuisine (most people wouldnt notice the difference). Also on Ashford.

There is a good Argentinian Grill called Buenos Ayres (corner of Condado and Magdalena Aves.), I would NOT recommend Ummo which is the 'new' and 'hip' Argentinian restaurant in the area.

If your want something lighter or if you are running later than expected I would recmmed a place where I go for pizza regularly called Via Apia (right next to Yerba Buena).

An old-faithful for late night dinners is the Greenhouse (corner of Condado and Ashford Aves.) they have been suffering a bit but they still make a very good French Onion Soup.

Miró is one of my favorites. They are just across from the Mariott and I think that they close later than other places.

Thank you SO much Marigross! I got your FB reply too. I have lots of good suggestions now, so we should be set.

We leave Wednesday!!
