Destination recommendations please!
Hello. My husband and I are planning a trip to the Caribbean next March/April, for 7-10 days. We’re in our early 60’s, enjoy a nice beach that offers surf and shade ( but not to spend all day), love waterfalls and moderate hikes, and it would be nice to have a couple of places of interest to visit besides natural ones. Safety to explore is a must, good food is a must. We’d prefer not to rent a car, but will if necessary - definitely prefer to drive on the right. I don’t want an all-inclusive. Looking for a boutique hotel or small resort with meal options.
We’ve been to Jamaica 3x, Aruba and Mexico, all of which we loved. We’re leaning this time towards one of the French or Dutch islands, Antigua, or perhaps Costa Rica, but open to suggestions on islands and/or hotels. A direct flight from Montreal is also a “must.” I know it’s a long list but if anyone can recommend a destination that meets some of the wish list I’d appreciate it. Thank you in advance! |

I just want to add that while good food is a must, fancy dining is not. We’re happy at a little beach bar or casual restaurant. Also, beaches with surf are lovely but calm sheltered waters are better for actual swimming, so either works for us:) And don’t let my direct flight from Montreal wish keep you from making a good recommendation if you’re not sure - I’ll look into that! Thanks in advance.

Hi Joanyul,
Hope below still helps re planning effort. There is a bit of a paradox in your wishlist: on the one hand, you search for natural beauty, on the other hand seems you want to have amenities closeby. Please clarify. If nature is key, Dominica and Guadeloupe are stunning. Regards

When I read your post Costa Rica was what came to mind. Some hiking, water falls, etc. natural beauty.
