Please remember to take your insect repellant as there have been a few cases of Dengue Fever in Aruba.:'(

Read the article about it from an Aruba newspaper in the address below.

Here is a link directly to the Aruban newspaper that had this article if you can't read it on the prior site I posted. Just scroll down a bit. Click on the address on the right.

I don't know why the address on the left doesn't work and I only entered one address in my post, so I am not sure why two are showing in the post.

Sorry about that folks. In my preview it showed two addresses, but when I actually did the post only one shows up.

Unfortunately, Dengue fever is possible everywhere in the Caribbean. Mind that bugspray, and look out especially for the "Asian Tiger" variety of mosquito. Looks like a weird itty-bitty waspy thing.

There was s serious outbreak of Dengue fever during our trip to Maui in 2001. Having spent 16 years in Africa, diseases et al don't freak me out but I was 4 months pregnant and mosquitoes love me. I wasn't sure what that would me for my unborn baby. Anyway, I did get bitten several times but luckily did not get sick.

I was on Maui then too. As I recall, the authorities were literally going house to house making sure there wasn't ANY standing water around for the mosquitos to breed in.
