December vs. April
 

I am planning to get married in islands (most likely the Caymans) either this Dec or April 2004. I am seeking the advice of seasoned caribbean travelers to help me decide between 2 specific dates based on my chance for best weather (warm, no/little rain)and best diving conditions. Our original date was Dec 6 but we have come up with an alternate date which may be more do-able for personal resasons. But if it turns out that either date will work equally as well, please help me make the final decision. <BR><BR>The 2 dates are - Dec 6 and April 24<BR><BR>Thank you very much for your help!

Really? Thanks. One more question. How about airfare (for family)? Will it be cheaper in early Dec or late April?

Kara, my guess is that airfare will be more expensive for April than December, but there are too many other factors to consider (departure city, competition, market conditions, day of week for travel, etc.).<BR><BR>If you have more than ten people flying, call the group sales department(s) of the airlines that serve your city and GCM for special pricing.

Pricing in December is probably more than April 24 (just after the season).

Go in late April because everything is cheaper.Room rates go down significantly and the weather is almost guaranteed to be great.I have traveled to the caribbean for the last 15 years at the end of april with a girlfriend to dive and it's always been great.In December you would have to fight the holiday crowds and in April all of the snow birds have gone home.Good luck!

Kara,<BR>April 24th would be a great time to go. The weather is gorgeous, and prices are good because it's off season. We go down to Grand Cayman every year the end of April. <BR>Sandy

The Hurricane Season, also known as the Rainy Season, extends from June 1 through November 30.<BR><BR>So your Dec 6 date misses that period by only a week. Your April 24 date misses that period by about 5 weeks.<BR><BR>So, if you want to go by the odds, the April 24 date is definitely a better bet. A bonus: on many islands, &quot;off season&quot; begins on April 15, and prices come down.
