Day trip to St. Maarten

We will be going to Cap Juluca next month for the first time and we plan on taking the day trip to St Maarten. What part of St. Maarten does the boat bring you to? Any suggestions on how to make the most of the day there? We are going primarily to shop. Thanks!

The ferry will bring you right into Marigot! Lots of shops and restaurants!

Marigot is great for shopping - jewellery, cigars, perfumes, European designer wear and some American designer wear (great for us Europeans).
Most of the shops closes for lunch.

Lots of nice restaurants in the marina.

Traffic between Marigot and Philipsburg (Dutch side) can be very heavy, lots of jams. Philipsburg can also be very busy on the days when cruise ships are visiting (some days up to 5 large ships in port).
If you are desparate for Burger King, you will find it here.

On our daytrips we take the early morning ferry, start with breakfast while waiting for the shops to open, shop until lunchtime, relax over a nice meal, and on the way back to ferry, stop at a small delicatessen to pick up some nice French cheese before catching the 3.30 pm ferry. By that time we have had enough and are happy to head back to relaxing Anguilla.

Only 62 days to go!

When the ferry drops you off you'll be right where you want to be for shopping. Grand Case isn't too far away for lunch, but there's some fine restaurants right there in Marigot, Bar De La Mare for starters. Get the grilled Caribbean lobster.

just want to clarify - I wrote in my previous post about having lunch in the marina.

This marina is not where the ferry docks, - you have to walk up a couple of streets, just ask for directions.

Having said that, La Vie en Rose, is a bar/restaurant close to the ferryport -a good pitstop too!

have a great vacation!
