current weather- bvi !

We will be sailing in the BVI's from dec 26- jan 1. Can anyone tell me what the current weather is like? What does the "scattered showers" listed on weather.com really mean for our trip? thanks very much. cathy
Addendum to my previous post

Check out this website for a very good definition of the difference between "Scattered Showers" and "Isolated Showers". There is also a chart that defines these in terms of Percentage of Area Covered and Probability of Precipitation.

http://www.weatherwise.org/qr/qry.02scatteredshowers.html

Steve

Sometimes, I find the weather report for the islands on weatherunderground.com to be not so accurate. I am a resident of the BVI and today it is sunny, hot and somewhat humid. Clear blue skies. There were brief showers last night and I am talking brief, not lasting more than 5 minutes - nothing to speak about. It has been raining on and off for the past several days but more off than on, as in a brief passing shower where it does'nt even looking gloomy outside and by the time it passes, the sun is out full and bright again. It is likely that you will have great weather for your sailing.

"Scattered showers" mean "scattered showers." This means that you might be sailing along under brilliant blue skies and blazing sunshine and then all of a sudden a shower passes over you which is gone in a couple of minutes and then the blue skies and sun are right back there. Half an hour later the same thing might happen again. You can see the clouds coming and tack over to where the rain don't rain if you don't want that little bit of wet on you. I'm really not trying to be facetious but that's the way that it is. Don't fret the small stuff like scattered showers. You'll enjoy every moment of your trip!

That was pretty funny, cjx. Just logged on and saw your response which I couldn't agree with more. Steve was giving a little bit more info than cathy probably needed to know and you hit the nail right on the head.
