Curacao - Safe ??

WE have a trip booked to Curacao at the end of January. We have been getting a lot of advise from our friends telling us not to go because it is very unsafe there. Someone told us that they had rented a car and stopped at a scenic spot and when they returned to their car all the wheels were missing. Any advice ?? Should we go somewhere else ??

Take the trip. You will be thrilled you did. We never once felt unsafe there. To date it remains our favorite Caribbean island.

Sue, I wouldn't fear crime in Curacao. My wife and I walked around with no concern. I've been a Chicago Policeman for 25 years and last August we had a great time in town. Two bums asked for a dollar. In downtown Chicago you get asked 1,000 times more. The Police were present downtown also. the cabs are licensed and safe. I want to return to Curacao and part of the reason is because of the safe feeling that we had.

We thought the island was safe. Went to town several times for dinner etc and never felt unsafe.
