Curacao overview please...

could someone please give me a short synopsis of this island?

For example, to me Aruba is a scrubby but fun island with gorgeous beaches and water, so-so snorkling, great restaurants and great weather.

Anguilla has best beaches I have seen, amazing restaurants very friendly people but not great snorkeling. Again a scrubby island but very relaxing place.

And Grand Cayman is a pretty, upscale island, though expensive. Great restaurants, beaches and diving.

Thanks!!

Curacao is more sophisticated than Aruba. The beaches aren't as nice as those in Aruba, but the culture is superior. Warm people, good shopping, good restaurants, watersports and there are casinos. Dutch buildings and desert like countryside.

We had a blast exploring the island by rental car, however we were told to make sure we were back at our hotel by nightfall, Something about Curacao made me feel just a little uneasy...

Although the beaches are not long and expansive like Aruba, I loved them! They are more like secluded little coves

I liked Curacao much better than Aruba -- it's great weather, pretty cove beaches, interesting mix of cultures and an actual city with interesting architecture and history. And we rented a car, drove all over the island both night and day and I did not ever feel unsafe. Much less Americanized than Aruba, which I thought was part of its charm.
