Curacao Marriott : Great Hotel?

Four of us are going to stay at the Marriott Hotel in Curacao next August. I noticed that the air=fares are going up almost every week! From all indications, this hotel is terrific. Any comments on the Marriott or Curacao, especially in the summer? Big Tom Russ

It's a great place. We stayed next door at the Hilton and frequently walked over to the Marriott (I wanted to stay there but hubby nixed me). You will have a great time.

Tom,
The airfares are going up as the airlines are feeling the need to make money with the increase in fuel costs. Curacao is an exciting adventure. Make sure you rent a car at least one day to explore the island. Lots of special restaurants for sumptious feasts. Good snorkeling. The seaquarium, although not spectacular by American standards is intriguing. You have made a perfect choice with the Marriott. Sorry, I've never been there in the summer.

I just got back from the Marriott a few weeks ago; I enjoyed it alot. The service was great, with friendly staff. The rooms were quite large(we had a standard) with a decent sized balcony. Nice pool area, with a hot tub nearby. The only down side for us was a lack of dining choices at the resort, but there's plenty in town nearby. Food /drink prices were quite cheap (as far as the Caribbean goes). The beach itself was a a disappointment for us; wall to wall rocks, in the water and out- we were told by the staff that there had been some major storms, and alot of sand erosion. The snorkelling off the beach was great, however. All in all a pretty nice vacation-

The hotel is the most attractive on the island but as I have said in other questiobs their dining room-Portofino- is terrible based on 2 visits in 16 months. I am not alone in that opinion. Lunches around the pool and the bar are above average but a little costly, not surprising. Stay thre but eat dinner elsewhere.

I stayed at the Marriott last April and I thought it was incredible. The food is really good, the best I've had at an all-inclusive resort though there aren't many restaurants to choose from (we only stayed five nights so it was not that big a deal). It is a bit pricey though if you do not choose to do all-inclusive. I also thought the staff was very friendly (especially the bartenders at the lounge). When we were there the jelly fish were so bad on that side of the island we couldn't go in the ocean at the Marriott, but I prefer the pool anyway (don't know if that's a problem for you). We had a terrific view from our balcony on the second floor oceanfront. If I ever go back, I would definitely stay at the Marriott again.
