Curacao - Hotel Questions, especially Academy & Habitat

I am searching for a slightly different, less "hotely" hotel for a couple nights in Curacao. I looked at the Academy Hotel and the Habitat Curacao and they looked interesting , but I have seen absolutely NO feedback on the Academy and don't know if I want to take a chance with that. I am looking for a mid-range price, and for a couple nights, it could be outside Willemstad as we'll probably rent a car for one or two days. It also does not have to be an apartment, as realistically, we probably won't cook. I am thinking of trying to get the Renaissance on Priceline for the rest of our total 5 nights there, or else the Kura Hurlanda Hotel. I'm mjostly just looking for something different with a little bit of atmosphere, I guess. Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated.

I'm not familiar with those 2 hotels. When we went we stayed at the Lions Dive. They have regular hotel rooms and 2 bedroom apartments. We got a free upgrade to a 2 bedroom apartment. The hotel offers free shuttle service to a local grocery store. However, they have 3 resturants on site and several more within walking distance. The Sea Aquarium is also within walking distance. We loved the hotel and their resturants as well as the location.

I did look at the Lion's Dive. It sounds like a nice place, and it's good to know that you can walk to a few restaurants.

If you walk towards Breezes, there is a bus/van stop that will take you into town. We did several Island tours also.

If your interested our pics are posted at:

Academy Hotel is completely run by students. It is still nice though.

Most people that I know that went to the Habitat were divers. I had never stayed there before.

The Renaiisance is very nice, clean, and modern looking but if you are looking for total relaxation this is not the hotel you should go to.

The Kura is VERY nice and different but might not fit your budget. But yes, this is the place for an awesome atmosphere.

My bet Lions Dive and Kura Hulanda.
