Culebra Report

Fred here, back from Culebra: Nice place, nice beaches, cheap easy food, good lodging. NO swimming pools or tennis courts so you hike , bike, swim, or sail. The sailing (or any boating) opportunities seem incredible because you can reach the out of the way beaches. Everyone goes to Playa Flamenca beach, which is lovely, and you can still have it to yourself until about 11 am. But there are at least 5 other great beaches on or around the island. Wish there was a little more shade on the sand, though.
You can hang out with the locals, the retirees, or the liveaboards in town. I think its a nice quiet place and I plan to visit again.

Where did you stay? How was it?

Hi Joan, I stayed at Villa Boheme in town on the harbor. Simple rooms with kitchens or use the communal kitchen. Nice to stay near town and walk alot. I biked and even walked to the airport to get home. If I return with my wife I will stay at Villa Arynar B and B. 1 mile south of town with a great view. The island is beautiful but you might get bored if you can't get out on a boat for a few days. Good snorkeling and diving, nice people. Relaxing for sure.

Hi,
Can you tell me more about the B and B you'd stay at next time?
Have you been there and what do you think? Any other suggestions if we'd like to rent a small villa near beaches?
Thanks...

I am from PR and Culebra is a Paradise. Ther are several places to stay but do not look for hotels just villas or guest houses. Favorite place isla bonita at Flameco beach. Villas with kitchen and best of all you have Flamenco beach just for you. White sand turquoise waters and totally empty. Restaurants Mamacitas. Prices cheap.

Wish one of the frequent visitors would put together a travel brouchure on this place. We have been thinking about it for a while but can't find much info.
