Culebra or Vieques?

Can anyone please give me some information on Culebra and Vieques island? Which island is better to visit, where to stay, is it a hassle to get there and what sites do you recommend to see? thanks!

We went to Vieques last Christmas & loved it. I have topped the thread for you that has a report of our trip.

To briefly answer your questions -Culebra is supposed to have great beaches and Vieques has the amazing bioluminescent bay. They can each be reached by a ferry from Fajardo or a small plane from the San Juan airport. Don't know about accomodations on Culebra. Vieques has many small inns with character, but no big fancy hotels.

Thanks Jeri-

Where did you stay on Vieques? Would you recommend it?

Haven't been to Vieques, but, Culebra is beautiful. Clear water, noting to do but, relax, walk, drink and relax. No big hotels (that I know of) - a few inns and one on the beach.

Vieques has a Wyndham property I believe.

The Wyndham Martineau Bay Resort and Spa has finally opened on Vieques. It started out as a Rosewood resort and took about 5 years to complete. We are staying there 25 Oct-3Nov. Good deal--Stay for 8 nights pay for 6--$225/ night including tax.
