Cuba travel from Miami for US citizens

I know there are some threads on this subject but they are older. We live in Fl and want to go but because we have Government clearances we have to do it legally from the US. I don't want to go for more than five nights and were hoping the Key West flights would be more available but they seem to have stalled. Miami will have to be our flight. I know the prices are high so which tour is the best for the price? If anyone has any new info it would be appreciated.

I wonder why US citizens have so many restrictions with respect to travel to Cuba. Are Cuban communists really more terrible that Viet Names communists, for instance? Of course it is Miami Cubans who dictate these restrictions. Was the Batista family better that the Castro family? Meyer Lansky was a big supporter of the Batista regime. Was the Cuban embargo worth it? Silly questions I suppose.

Recent polls show majority of Americans now favor normalizing relations. I would hope it would make travel there easier. Sorry flpab, but I haven't done this either, am interested in how it works, since have had friends do it.

We went through Cross Cultural Solutions several years ago. Awesome trip. I'd love to go back before the sanctions are lifted. After that happens, I fear Havana will become one giant construction zone for many years to come.

We used Friendly Planet for Cuba with our guide Trish. It was wonderful. I am very well traveled and Cuba is now my number one favorite place. Friendly Planet was much less expensive after much research.

Southeastern...We leave for Cuba on April 25 from the US on a tour with a university. Besides bringing cash to convert to CUC, do you have any other recommendations that would be helpful? Any problems with the electricity?

Just got back two weeks ago. No problems with electricity. Took a set of adaptors and used one at one of the hotels, can't remember which. Others had regular outlet options.

Other than that, sunscreen and bug spray if you're going out in the country.

I bought art so took a tube to put it in. We stayed in a hotel call telegrapho or something close to that. Perfect location! Friendly planet also uses the National which is more out of the center but a must do for a drink because it is so famous. Felt safe everywhere. Went out to the bars at night. People totally friendly. Didn't need mosquito stuff. Drink the good rum and smoke a cigar even if you don't smoke like I did. Just gotta do it while in Cuba! used the pedicabs and the old car taxis and walked too. Eat at the pasadas (spelling) and the food is very good. Go to the famous bars and have a drink. Cuba is an awesome place for pictures. Reminds me of the French quarter in new Orleans. Loved it! Definitely want to return! Happy travels!

Spent more money than I thought we would. Art is a very good price. It's everywhere! As I said, we are well traveled and Cuba was just FUN! There were 17 of us in our group. My university does Cuba for credit but it was ecological and we wanted more city and it was more expensive because you pay for the professors to go. You wull have afabolous time! .

I actually recently booked a tour to Cuba myself. I've wanted to travel here for a long time, and it's so off the beaten path.

My wife and I booked with LaTour - they were offering free airfare when you book a tour to Cuba through them, and we're also based in Miami which is where the flights depart from. Can't wait.

In case it helps you this was the deal I got...
