Also, many from outside the US, as well as many US citizens, may not realize how significantly the herancia Cubans use their vast wealth to buy influence in US politics in a desperate attempt to keep the situation viva-a-vis Cuba one of enmity and continuing hatred.
At what point, if any before that generation dies off entirely, do they allow US policy toward Cuba to normalize? That a poster would bring personal politics into a travel forum is a disturbing reminder of how pervasive and damaging these antiquated grudges can be. |
"..those who are scraping by on the very small salaries that the Gov pays.." BECAUSE the herancia Cubans 'buy' politicians in the US who support continuing the embargo that impacts Cuba's economy. That is indeed heartless toward brothers and sisters in Cuba. "Hopefully things will get better there, and get better soon." Things will get better when the ineffective (for decades) embargo is lifted and the whole world is free to trade with Cuba without retaliation.
