Cruise Stop: St. Lucia

One of my stops will be St. Lucia. Any suggestions while I am there?

Should an excursion be booked through the cruise or off the ship, locally? The excursions always seem so expensive.

Anything you can offer!

Do's and don'ts.

St. Lucia was one island where we booked through the cruise. We booked a land and sea tour. Took us through a tour of the island by bus in the AM. Then we had a great time sailing on a catamaran past the Pitons in the PM.

I would have to agree that the best way to get bang for your buck in a relatively short time in St Lucia would be to do the land and sea tour. sunlinktours.com offers it for $80pp, so that will give you something to compare your ships prices to. We hired a taxi for the day to tour, but if I had a limited time like a cruise offers, I would do the land and sea trip.

I was thinking about doing the taxi thing. Grabbing a taxi driver and seeing if he would drive our group around for the time we are there for a set price then we could all split the fare. Much cheaper than each of us purchasing an excursion.

Thanks for the info!

Anyone do the following:

Roseau Valley Banana Plantation
Piton Flore Nature Trail
Forestiere Tropical Forest Trail
Pigeon Island National Park
River Rock Waterfall
Old Sugar Mill
Anse La Raye Adventure
Grand Anse Bay Turtle Watch
Marquis Plantation
Toraille Waterfall & Garden
Rain Forest

Try Phillip Tours, we did an island tour with them on our stop over and had a fantastic time. www.philliptoursstlucia.com

The best idea is to book with the island and not through the cruise ship. We did www.jungletoursstlucia.com They were totally awesome. The tour is in a open jeep, 4X4. It is open, but a lot of fun and they can go places where buses cannot go. It was exciting, somewhat rugged. But fun. I think it was at the time $75 per person included lunch, drinks etc. I highly suggest recommend them.

I second the above poster. We used Shals Jungle Tours and i cannot say enough about him. It was just our family of 4 - we sang all through out the countryside. We saw a lot and he provided a spectacular lunch at a beachfront resort. My kids ages 12 and 17 will never forget this day or Shal he was wonderful.
