1. Wondering if you depart from FL for a Caribbean Cruise, if you need a passport? <BR><BR>2. If you had to pick a boat on Royal Caribbean's fleet, which would be the most fun for two single friends. We want some decent activities, but not something so huge where there a ton of people that will create huge waits in lines.<BR><BR>3. Is it better to book flight separate (i believe it's cheaper) or is that taking a chance w/timing of departures? <BR><BR>4. Should I bother w/a travel agent?

Stephanie, if you use a travel agent, he or she can quickly answer your questions. Plus any others you haven't thought of yet. <BR><BR>The necessity for passports may depend on the ports you are visiting, but generally, no you probably won't need one. <BR><BR>(Are any of RCCL ships small? Seems to me they are all huge with tons of people.) <BR><BR>If you do book your air separately, make sure its covered under whatever travel protection plan you use. Otherwise, if something happens and you have to cancel, you may end up with tickets you paid for but can't use. This is experience talking -- I have two tickets from the east coast to the west coast that will be expensive for me to transfer, left over from a bankrupted Renaissance cruise. I didn't have travel insurance that would cover them.

If you want to avoid crowds & lines, why are you considering a cruise? I don't get it!!

I would suggest you carry your passport.<BR><BR>Every Caribbean island I have visited required a passport to get into.<BR><BR>Better safe, than sorry.

You don't need a passport. I've been on 4 cruises and have stopped at many different islands and I've never even owned a passport. All you need is a birth certificate and a valid driver's license. Of course a passport would be fine too, but it's not required. Don't just research Royal Caribbean, research Carnvial also. They are both great cruise lines. Have fun.

I have been on 7 cruises and have never been asked for my passport on any island yet. In fact when you sail with Windjammer, they take your passport when you board and give it to you when it's time to go. They take care of customs. As far as the cruises I did on RCCL, I was never asked to produce it. I have not been on a cruise since 2000, so they may have changed it since then.
