Cozumel, Grand Cayman, or Jamaica for wedding/honeymoon?

Hello! I am currently scrambling to pick a resort to elope to during the week of April 26th to May 3rd. Taking advice from family members and travel agents alike we are thinking about Cozumel, Jamaica, or Grand Cayman. However, other suggestions are welcome. We are a young couple (23&27) and would like to get out and enjoy water sports and other activities. We are also leaning towards an all-inclusive resort because they also seem to offer free/cheap wedding packages. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

I can suggest from my personal experience. My husband and I were married last year at Sandals Antigua. We are also in our mid-twenties. We also went alone (or eloped). They did a wonderful job with the ceremony and we couldn't have imagined it being anymore enjoyable.

We really enjoyed the resort. The grounds are very lush/tropical and well kept. The beach is large and spread out with soft, white sand and very calm, aquamarine water. The food was good, although not spectacular (let's just say you don't go to an All-inclusive for the food), and drinks were good and plentiful. We also enjoyed having access to the watersports equipment anytime we wanted. The staff was very helpful and would give lessons if needed. We also liked that we could throw our purse/wallet in the safe and not worry about finances for an entire week. This made for a very relaxing vacation/honeymoon.

Before I went I read mixed reviews and a lot of bad comments on Sandals. Mostly people say that they are over priced. I will say that I probably wouldn't pay full price to stay there, but with the 30% off discount they are offering it was worth it. We really enjoyed it and would recommend it. If you have questions or would like to see pictures, feel free to email me. [email protected]
Congrats and good luck in choosing!

Hi,

We were married at the Grand Lido in Negril, Jamaica. They did a beautiful job. The resort is more luxurious which was perfect for the wedding (but tnot stuffy!) They have a yacht there where we had the wedding - very private. Highly recommend.

In Playa Del Carmen - across from Cozumel, here is a resort called Royal Hide Away which looks beautfiul - gets rave reviews.

Any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected]

Good Luck!

marisah,
If you haven't been many places in the Caribbean, an all-inclusive in
Jamaica would probably be the best deal on short notice and if you've got family/friends coming. I got married at Grand Lido Negril last May, it was super but I gotta be honest, I'm 37 and and husband's 47 and it seemed wayyyy too old for us. We have travelled a lot in the caribbean, but had never been to an AI before, so on one hand it really was the perfect set-up since we had family down and everyone got to enjoy a nice resort holiday, but on the other hand, I was sort of wondering where the shuffleboard court was. The wedding planner was super and they did more than meet all our requests, but as nice a job they did for us, since you're younger you may want to look into Couples. Negril is good because less adventurous guests can stay at the resort and if you want to party you can go out to the beach bars; take some drives out into the countryside, etc. You mentioned watersports; if you're REALLY into diving or snorkeling, go to Cayman or Bonaire instead. Jamaica is not really good for diving.
