Coyaba Beach Hotel in Mo Bay, JA..
Was thinking about this place for our next trip, and possibly going with the all inclusive plan? Does anyone have any info on rooms, if they are Ocean view, is this a "quieter" area of MoBay? How is beach etc etc? Thanks for any and all help!

Very nice place on a smallish beach. Not all rooms are ocean view(you'll pay extra for that ) I think their AI plan will allow you to "dine around" maybe to the Ritz and Half Moon if you like.<BR>(which would be fun) It's a very well managed property.

Chris,<BR><BR>No fair, Chris. You can't leave us hanging like that. More detail, please, on why your friends were disappointed with the food. Was there not enough of it and it tasted so good they wanted more? Was there too much of it and it didn't taste good? Was there a surcharge on anything that tasted good?<BR>'Disappointed' leaves a lot of room for interpretation. We're thinking about going here too and would like details. Thanks in advance.<BR><BR>Paul -- have you been there? Are your comments based on first hand knowledge? If yes, can you comment on the food?

I've been there....my comments are 1st hand. The food is a bit continental for my likes. However.......I'm the one who's just as happy to be sitting at <BR>"Scotchies" ( a local jerk stand dive)<BR>down the street. Again if the "dine around" is available, the variety of atmospheres and menus would be great.

Paul,<BR><BR>Thanks for the quick feedback. I love the local food, too. We have a list of recommended restaurants in MoBay and would expect to try several of them, but for the nights we may want to stay on campus, would like to know that the food will be worth it. Did a search for Coyaba above and got 17 posts about the property. All were very positive, with several giving high marks to the food. So will take that as a positive sign.<BR><BR>Thanks again for the feedback, Paul.

didn't want to go there since it was not my experience but just a heads up to look for recent visits. it was the general discussion by many guests that it was not up to usual standard according to a close friend. new chef maybe - I don't remember if that was mentioned as fact but as a reason but his skill was very limited. They did love Schotchie's. The question would they go back was answered "no way." beach was very narrow from their description. Comfortable accomodations and friendly hosts. Just needed work in the kitchen dept.

I stayed @ Coyaba last January and thought it was a great place. We went AI, and I thought the food was delicious (try the banana rum pancakes - even if sounds like a dessert!). Perhaps there is a new chef? We had a suite room (312?) with an ocean view. The area is very quiet and relaxed. On the downside - the beach is inside a sand bar - so the water was clear, but a little rocky and it had quite a bit of seaweed. Overall, we loved the place, the staff and the food. ps - no dine around option when I went.

E-mailed the property over the weekend and asked specifically about Chef Oertle, who had been Chef for 9 years and won several awards. The owner replied that Chef Oertle is still the man in the kitchen.<BR>Can't comment on why some would think the food was of lesser quality, but at least it isn't because the chef is new.
