Couples or Swept Away for Honeymoon

We are deciding between Couples Negril & Sweptaway for our honeymoon. Neither of us has been to Jamaica and would appreciate any feedback.

My wife and I are returning to Couples Negril for our third trip! Our previous visits were wonderful! I have never been to Swept Away, so I can not comment on that resort. Couples Negril offers many activities included e.g. diving, shopping trips, etc.

we just returned from Swept Away, and it was wonderful. The crowd seems to be a little older, but if it is quiet you are looking for then this is the place. If you take the time to get to know the staff there, they are the most wonderful people - we will go back! The food, the room, the people, all made for a great trip!

Sandy,
They are owned by the same Family and both are wonderful.
I love the jungle feel of Swept Away. Select the Atruim Room, Garden is too close to the road and noisy, beachfront since the trees have grown and hidden the view is not worth the extra $$.
If you chose Couples Negril, clients have reported it is not worth it to upgrade from the Gardenview Rooms.

joyce, so if we go with Couples Negril, you don't recommend getting a suite?

It depends on if the Large Room with Living Room Area is important to you.
They are beautiful rooms, it's just I am into getting my client the best value for dollar, and to me a suite is not worth the extra money in most cases.

On the other hand you Honeymoon, should be the best trip you ever take, so if the suite is within your Budget, go for it. You will enjoy either room.

Have you considered a villa. We will be
returning to Jamaica this summer for the
third time and have always rented a villa for the week. Most if not all come with a full staff, it is private and offers more flexibility than the resorts. Just my opinion.

We stayed at Swept Away 2 yrs in a row. Very unique resort w/great food, fantastic fitness facilities. I gather the main difference between Couples & Swept Away is that Swept Away is more casual and oriented more toward fitness-minded people. The rooms at Couples looked more like hotel rooms. The cottages at Swept Away are rustic but have a certain elegance. Really feels like you're away from it all. Swept Away has an Olympic pool and fitness classes, workshops, classes, etc. every hour all day every day. All free. I agree about atrium rooms as best value, but we stayed in a beachfront and are glad we did.

Hey Sandy,
I'm not sure if this will help, but we stayed at Couples in Ocho last year and loved every minute of our trip. So many people we met stay at Ocho for half of the week and Negril the other half. We heard great things about Couples in Negril. Same excellent service that we got, we were so pampered, and didn't want for a thing. Food, drinks entertainment were all so wonderful. The staff treated us very well. We probably met 30 people who are repeat visitors at the Couples Resorts and they say that they come back year after year because its always so much fun. The excursions were alot of fun, so was the nightlife. My brother recently got married and stayed at Swept Away, he felt it was tooooo laid back and quiet. Not alot of stuff going on. Really caters to the honeymooners who are looking for peace, quiet, and lots of alone time. Hope some of this helps. email me if you want any other information.
