Couples or Sandals

Honeymoon for couple in their mid-20s. Which is better for us, Sandals or Couples. Looking for nice beaches and pools, good food, fun activities but romantic mood. Any opinions would be MUCH appreciated, since we've never been to the Caribbean or an All Inclusive.

I have not been to Couples but have been to many Sandals and have to say, we have had a positive expeeince at each one, but they do vary so depends on what you are looking for. For instance, Sandals MoBay is the most active, Ocho for its gardens and romantic atmosphere, Negril for the beach, etc.... Sandals is truely all-inclusive so there is no hidden costs (outside of trips and spa's,etc...) The food is excellent as are the people - very friendly and just so nice to speak with. Rooms are very nice - clean and spacious.

I do have pic's of many of the resorts we have been to - if interested, jsut email me.

Regardless, I think you will find that people are very loyal to thier resorts - Couples people will they you they are best as will Sandals people!! There are great things said about both so you really can not go wrong.

Both Couples resorts include several excursions and have free internet/email access if those things are important to you.

I'm not knocking Sandals; the ones I saw while I was in Jamaica looked nice from what I could tell.

Yeah, I've heard Couples includes excursions. Do Sandals properties include any excursions (aside from the trip to Dunns River Falls or whatever)?

Penney Feb 28th, 2002 02:26 AM

No, only Sandals Dunn's and Ocho include the Falls but some resorts do include golf and the use of the other properties which is nice.

For the sandals golf resorts the green's fees are included but they don't include the mandatory cart and caddy fees.

Sandals is a great company - their resorts in St.Lucia and Nassau are tops but in the Negril or Ocho Rios area, I think Couples has them beat!

Have been to Couples twice and had a great time. Many activities are included e.g. catamaran cruises, shopping trips, scuba, etc. Food is good and friendly staff. But if you just want relax and spend time together,it's a great place. Also, has a nice beach!

Don't waste your time or money at Couples. We went to Ochio Rios for our honeymoon last spring and were quite displeased. For the same cost we should have gone to Sandals.

We did a split stay at both Couples resorts in October and had a blast! No complaints at all.

We were married at Couples, Negril two weeks ago. Resort was awesome, food was very good. Sandals is on the main beach, Couples is on more private Bloody Bay. The people we talked to that had been to both preferred Couples food and rooms.

Sandals By far, just returned last night from Sandals MB, Fun, Fun, Fun resort also spent 3 days at the Sandals Royal Caribbean and was transfered to MB nice resort but "Boring" not active, a readers and tea time pardice.

We have been to both and think Couples is far superior. Sandals is lively, noisy, with lots of drinking and game playing. Couples is quieter, more romantic and more up-scale.
