Couple of last minute ??

Hi,
Arriving next Saturday for 5 days, can't wait, been 15 looonnggg years since we've been..
Have a couple of questions..
When snorkeling in Tobacco Bay or snorkel park is there anywhere to leave your "stuff" while snorkeling? At home we woud just leave valuables/cash in the car, but will be going by ferry and need to have them on us.
What would you suggest doing on a Sunday, since alot is closed? Somerset portion of the railway trail?
Passes or transportation tickets?
Are there always a cruise ships docked at this time?
Can you ask for American dollars when getting change?
Thanks...

Hi!
Glad you're coming back!
I would invest in a small waterproof case with a wrist strap and carry your cash/cards/room key with you while you snorkel. Don't leave anything on the beach that you would be upset to lose. Last time I was at Tobacco Bay, I seem to recall deposit bins behind the rental counter, but if they are there, they're by no means secure. Should be able to pick up a waterproof case anywhere that has an outdoor section (Target, etc)
Sundays during cruise season aren't too bad -Dockyard will be open, with shorter hours. Most stores have Sunday afternoon hours during the summer when the ships are in.
There are ships in more days than not this time of year -Dockyard just completed a brand new mega-ship dock, allowing two ships to be in port there at a time. Plus there's usually one in St. George's.
You and every other tourist will want American dollars - most places know this and will try to give them if they're available, but don't count on it. Bank of Bermuda's brand-new branch on Front St. in Hamilton has US dollar ATM's now - thye're marked 'travel cash'. Most places accept your cards, so there's not a huge need to carry lots of cash anyway.
Hope that helps - bring sunscreen and have a great trip!

Thanks for the idea, will get a case this weekend!
The main things we want to do is St. George, Dockyard, Somerset part of trail and maybe an excursion or two and of course some beach time, weather permitting..

Any suggestions on what to do if it rains?

Have a rum swizzle? Seriously, any rain this time of year is either going to be pretty light, or pretty quick - I would bring some shoes that can handle it and just carry on with my plans.

Returned from Bermuda the other day (in the process of writing trip report) but I would agree on these drink suggestions. After trying one of each I was leaning more towards the SWIZZLE just because of the great tasting fruit juices. But would suggest one of each if you aren't driving. Both went perfect with Bermuda Fish Chowder! FYI last Tuesday it started raining when we went to dinner and was finish by the time we left. Got great pictures of the clouds moving in or were they moving out. Now I'm not sure which they were.
After writing all this I realized you are probably already on you're way. OH well, I hope you all agree and hope this helps anyone else reading.

Golfer, I have to wait a few months to be in Bermuda so how about sharing those photos? I am anxious to hear your observations about your stay at Newstead.

I've already started writing and gone thru 1/2 the photos. Is there a way of posting photos here?

You can post a link to facebook or photobucket and similar sites. I don't think there's a way to post on a thread. I am dying to see that blue, blue water!
