Country Country in Negril

My wife and I are thinking of going to Negril in March and a person I work with has recommended Country Country. Does anyone have any experience with this place.

Thanks, Brian

Did you ever go to Counrty Country? I was thinking of going with my wife and 5 year old son. We spent 6 great days on the beach in Negril at Whistling Bird. And would love to return but the Travelocity package for CC is cheaper than just airfare. Please respond.
Thank you.
Josh

I have seen posts about it on the message board at www.negril.com. You might try checking there. Be sure & take a tour of Negril & the area when you're there. We did in May with Soloman Kerr at Talk of the Town Tours. He was wonderful & the price was excellent. Our favorite was eating lobster at 3 Dives & watching the incredible sunset.

We had breakfast there last month several times, (it was EXCELLENT btw) and remarked on what a neat place it looked like and seemed to be.

Though we did not stay at Country Country, we ate there as well. While doing so I took the opportunity to look over the small grounds. It's a long narrow property (as many are in Negril) with cottages on either side of a wide walkway. None of them looks as though they had any view and none looked very large either. With one child we generally look for at least a bedroom and pullout. Also........though there was a small sitting area up above the beach near the restaurant, there is not much hotel beach as again the property is narrow. Since Ivan there may be even less debth as well. As for cleanliness and management, I remember it to be very good on both counts as far as the restaurant was concerned. Food was very good! Good luck!!

My only warning would be that you will likely hit college Spring Break time. Have you been to Negril before? If not, I would hate for your first trip to be during Spring Break if you don't know what you're in for. The heaviest partying will be closer to Negril so it may be alright but it is something you should factor in. Country Country is probably not the kind of place that caters to breakers but you never know.

When is spring break exactly? Regarding both Counrty Counrty and Idle Awile, I want to go to either in October, anyone been to either?

A few colleges have Spring Break in February but most are in March. Lower school breaks continue into April but that is not much of a problem unless you don't like being around kids generally. I have seen both resorts but not stayed at either. Idle Awhile is more upscale. Country Country is under new ownership and I think has had recent work done but I haven't seen a lot of info on it, but there are some recent very good reviews on www.tripadvisor.com

joshua,

We just got back from Idle Awhile at the end of August and LOVED it. See my trip report.

What a great place - I would recommend it to anyone!

The beach at CC didn't look great to me last week, post-Ivan.

Whistling Bird was fine, Rondel Village was fine, CC may be fine by (next?) October.
