I used to live on STX....17 years ago (wow does time fly). I went back a few years later for a wedding of friends who still live there (one works for the rum distillery). I love the island and would consider it for any Caribbean island vacation. It offers a lot that neither STJ or STT have and it considerably more affordable. Outstanding beaches (I actually preferred the East End when I lived there), great restaurants and a fun waterfront area in Christenstead. It is a very drivable island, thus a rental car is highly recommended. Beautiful terrain that tranverses from rain forest on the west end to a more arid, scrubby east end. Definitely give it a try....she will not disappoint.

did you settle on St Croix?

We just returned from 10 "glorious" days in St.Croix-our first time there. It is a peaceful quiet place to go. We stayed on the North Shore-you need to rent a car. We spent most of our time on the beach at Cane Bay-great diving and snorkeling. Not much night-life but we didn't care. The weather was perfect-85 and sunny every day. There are "touristy' things to do if you want-we went kayaking on Salt River-you can tour the Cruzan Rum Factory, take a day trip to Buck Island, or the tide pools. If you want to just "kick back" and relax-this is the place for you!!!
