Coral Reef Club Barbados question

I just read some reviews on TripAdvisor - one ranted about how annoying it was that you couldn't get lunch by the pool or on the beach. Does anyone know if you can have lunch served in your room or do you have to go to the restaurant?

And if you do go to the restaurant I understand you can't wear a bathing suit, but are shorts okay during the day? Do men need collared shirts at lunch like they do for dinner? At breakfast?

Thanks for any advice. We're packing for our trip next week and I don't want to be the under-dressed ugly Americans!

A co-worker went here and she told me that it is somewhat dressy (she said there were a large contingency of dressy Brits). She said most of the men would wear linen pants around, even when going to the beach.

Well, we will be under-dressed if folks are in pants on the beach! Thanks for the response. I'm off to the store to buy pantyhose for trip now....kidding...

Isn't that strange. She felt like the Ugly American that you are talking about, even though they were both wearing shorts and t-shirts.

Gerry and I were at the Coral Reef Club two years ago. Shorts are fine at lunch. We usually came off the beach and I wore a wrap around my bathing suit and Gerry wore his dry bathing shorts. Breakfast is extremely casual although we usually had it delivered to our room, so we wore anything that was comfortable! I believe that they have room service for all meals but lunch in the dining room is beautiful! The Brits tend to dress up more than Americans but who cares?!! Just be yourself!!!

Just returned from a wonderful week at Coral Reef. you can eat in your room at lunchtime, but then you miss out on the more extensive menu in the restaurant. you can wear shorts & ladies have to weaar a sarong or cover up, but nothing dressy. In the evening no jeans, shorts or collarless tee shirts. The women tended to wear anything from Capris to dressy dresses, but the main thing is that the food is wonderful, maybe not as large portions as served in the USa,but extremely tasty & varied
comr back with any further questions, but I can highly recommend it.

DianeC,

thanks for the info, we're heading to the Sandpiper in a week for our honeymoon and can't wait! Did you try any of the sister restaurants affiliated with the meal plans for Coral Reef, Sandpiper?
