Coral Creek, Cobblers Cove or The House
I am planning an October trip to Barbados. I narrowed my hotel choices to the above. I enjoy beautiful beaches, rooms, bars and good food. I enjoy ambiance. I am 54. I do not need a wild night life. Which one is best

Hello again--I recommend Cobbler's to you earlier, so I'll tell you a bit more detail now to help you make your decision. I've not been to The House or to Coral...
Cobbler's is set on a fairly long stretch of white-pink sand that is shared only by private villas, so it's not crowded. The hotel sets up about half a dozen umbrellas with lounges on the beach and they give you a flag. You put the flag in front of your chair if you'd like beach service without having to get up from your lounge. When I was there, most of the guests prefered to lounge by the pool rather than on the beach, so often my partner and I were the only ones using the beach umbrellas.
I bring my own snorkel gear on trips, as it and swimming are the only two water sports I usually indulge in, so I can't comment on the watersports facilities or availability here. LIkewise, I never used the gym or tennis courts (which are across the street from the hotel where the giftshop is).
The rooms at Cobbler's are all suites, so they're quite spacious, and they have a kitchenette. That really only amounts to a fridge, microwave, sink, and hot plate, along with a table and two chairs. THe living room is separated from your patio or balcony by only some louvered doors, so it's basically open air. Bedroom and bathroom can be closed off for air conditioned comfort. I liked being on the second floor, as there were higher ceilings that contributed to the spacious effect. (There are also two fabulous rooftop suites at CC, but I never saw them, except on the website.)
Food was always outstanding there, as it should be since they are one of only 5 hotels in the Caribbean which are members of Relais & Chateaux, an interntaional group of small hotels known for their food, accommodations, and gracious service. There's only one restaurant and it's mere feet away from the beach, so a very romantic setting. They offer both an a la carte menu and a prix fixe menu. I ordered off both and was consistently pleased. Bar area was congenial and good for mingling, as was the lounge where tea is served in the afternoon.
We found the staff to be unfailingly courteous and unobtrusive.
The pool is small but attractive, surrounded by several umbrella tables and chairs.
We had an ocean view room, which means we could catch the sunset through the foliage. If I were planning to go back for a romantic interlude, I would request a second floor ocean front room for unforgettable sunsets. (First floor rooms may feel a little like a fishbowl, since many people lounge in the gardens in front of the ocean front rooms.)

I've copied some text from another post regarding "The House" - you may be interested in this:
The House has a very cool/romantic look/atmosphere, especially at night, with candles and torches, the staff all wears white, the rooms were nice, overly large really and we had the "junior ocean front suite". They were like two adjoining large-size hotel rooms. In terms of value for a little more per night (@$500 per night) we stayed at PSV with all meals in a private cottage on a private beach. Sandy Lane looked more posh, if less cool if that makes sense, but much, much larger -- a really huge resort. They seemed to have a nicer/wider beach as well. The House Ambassador thing really didn't work that well either. They're supposed to be on call 24 hrs but often no one picked up the phone when we called the operator. They rarely came around (like once per day) to see if we needed drinks, etc. And most of the promised beach amenities (cold towels, etc) were never present and even water had to be asked for. Sounds like I'm nit picking but when things are promised than not delivered you question. Just didn't seem worth it. The roundtrip transfers included were nice. Another thing. They never called to confirm out flight, which could have saved us a lot of wasted time. I met people from Sandy Lane who did call and they stayed to make sure the guests were taken care of with the delays at the airport.
From the reports I've heard on Cobblers Cove you would do great there.
