Condo Rental on St Thomas - Point Pleasent or Maegans Beach

Hi there,
My wife and I are tossing and turning between the two condo rentals we have option to on St Thomas....We plan on staying 7 nights in November and can either choose a nice newly renovated ocien view condo in the Point Pleasent Resort gated community or the Villa Eau Claire beach house on Maegans bay. Both fit in our budget however we are unsudre of a few logistics:
- we love snorkeling (hear it is better at Sugar beach near PP)
- we want to be as close as possible to a beautiful beach not to busy
- we would like to try local cusine
- we would like to explore a few of the towns and do shopping
- we plan to buy groceries and make our own meals
- we plan to travel to St Johns for a day trip
- we would like a BBQ (Eau Claire condo has one)
- we would like a pool (Point Pleasent has one)
FYI we plan to spend 4 nights in Tortola at the end of our trip at the Sugar Mill or Fort Recovery....another decison in itself...haha

So any help experts can provide us that we may not have considered would be great!!

Cheers

magens beach is beautiful but is further from everything than point pleasant. also magens is where they take bus loads of cruise shippers each day & i don't think has any snorkeling.
pp is between sapphire & coral world on the east end (red hook is where you ferry to st. john from)
small grocery in red hook. larger one 10 mins further down the road.
have you looked at secret harbour?

Secret Harbor nicest

Pont Pleasnt of your 2...

stthomasdivingclub.com Bolongo Bay best for diving...

www.magenspoint.com is the most picturesque beach

used to own a condo there... carrentals.com is a must remote

Does tend to get chock a block with cruisers a lot.

Might also have a look at St John Westin great deals

for me betterbidding.com maho.org great vrbo.com places

Best vibe snorkel off the beach better than St Thomas.

Happy Hunting you really cannot go wrong...

insuremytrip.com wise some St. Thomas areas a little dodgy

I don't love either of those options, but if it's down to those two, I'd go with Point Pleasant and try to get a renovated room. Rent a car, and hit Magen's Bay early before cruise shippers get there. Check out Lindquist Beach down the road, and spend some time at Secret Harbour and go snorkeling and have lunch or dinner at Blue Moon. Definitely take a day trip to St. John or the BVI. My 2 cents.

Point Pleasant. We stayed there--although it's been about 4 years--and loved it.
Pt Pleasant has several pools, and a fun little casual seaside cafe --great Caribbean atmosphere.
Also , as Virignia wrote above, PP very convenient locationfor getting the ferry to St John--about a ten minute taxi or bus ride (local bus is fun!) into Red Hook

FYI: Blue Moon at Secret Harbour is no more. There is an interim bar/restaurant on the property, but they are working on a new restaurant to be open this fall.

To the OP: Magens is a bit remote from services and restaurants, it is really a residential area. However, it is a very popular local area because of the quiet....

where did you end up choosing? I think we are currently looking at both condos you looked at (Eau de Clare and the PP condo)...now looking at St. John's too...
