Why is it that Jamaica and pot-legalization types are always such vitriolic and unreasonable morons?
Hopefully when they grow up they'll grow out of their rebellious and naive ignorance.
Go to and leave the adults alone.

Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean they aren't right.

For many, Jamaica is a place to vacation where they can enjoy some of Jamaica's great ganja. Some find this threatening - perhaps they should stay in the Bahamas. Or better yet go to Florida...

Ganja is part of Jamaica culture - deal with it...

A family in our town vacationed in Jamaica. The father was swimming in the ocean with 13 yr.old son. Father suffers heart attack, is pulled to shore by bystanders. Lifeguards on beach call ambulance which takes a very long time. Father is D.O.A. Family had hard time getting body released to return to U.S. Son is questioned by Jamaican authorities as involved in father's death. It was a terrible experience for the family (especially the son). This, of course could happen in other islands as well, just thought it might be something to be aware of, especially if not in good health.

Ganja is probably a part of the culture in Susan's trailer park also.
Deal with it.

My husband and I are avid Negil goers - we love it and feel quite safe there. However, having daughters of our own Jamaica (anywhere) is not a place we would take our girls - especially in their teen years - not safe for them and the Jamaican men will drive you and them crazy! Definately not the place for a family of teen daughters! You may want to look into Aurba or Barbados or St.Lucia. Much safer and just as beautiful. Hope this helps!

Alan, I agree with others that your daughters have probably already been offered drugs at school or at friends parties, etc. Chances are, you were offered drugs at that age too. I went to Negril about 10 years ago and was offered drugs there. And yes, a polite no WILL do the trick. Ganja sellers are not like car salesmen "what can I do to get this joint into your mouth today?" They will back off and look for someone more willing to buy their product.
Negril [not unlike Key West and Maui] got its tourism start as a haven for hippies in the 60's and 70's. So Jamaicans have become accustomed to some people going there to enjoy their beaches AND their ganja. Now that Negril has been "discovered", corporations have stepped in and security is more visible.
A person stoned on marijuana is not as obnoxious or threatening as a person drunk on alcohol. They may be grinning or laughing at something you don't think is funny, but they won't be belligerent or aggressive. Crime and drugs in Negril is nothing compared to the crime and drugs I witnessed on Bourbon Street in NOLA or San Francisco. Just my two cents.
Oh, and if you stay in an all-inclusive and don't leave the resort, then don't bother going to Jamaica. Why go all that way and not see the town?
