Compare these mediocre snorkeling islands!

For various reasons we are considering four destinations (all new to us) that are not known for great snorkeling.

I'm looking for opinions on which place will have snorkeling that sucks the least:

St. Lucia
St. Kitts

All opinions welcome!

Haven't been to the other 3, but tho we liked Barbados a lot for other reasons, we wouldn't return cause the snorkeling (our main "thing") was pretty bad. (On the other hand, across the way a bit in Tobago, it's pretty good.)

The snorkelling in St. Lucia can be quite good in a couple of places. For example, near the Pitons (at Jalousie), Anse Chastanet, Anse Cochon.

In my own experience with these islands, I would rate St. Lucia as slightly higher than Antigua, especially for snorkeling from the beach. But both of them rank much higher than Barbados and St. Kitts. Of them all, St. Lucia has the most beautiful and dramatic interior and probably provides the most true Old-Caribbean experience, followed by St. Kitts. Antigua and Barbados have the more quintessential white sand beaches with the dazzling blue waters over the other two.

Barbados is a wonderful island. There is an underwater park (Folkstone) wich is nex to Coral Reef Club, the class act resort there. There is decent snorkeling at the park.

The north of St Lucia does not have many good snorkelling spots. Down south is much better. Anse Chastanet, Anse Cochon, the beach of Jalousie are all reasonable for shore based snorkelling.

The best place for snorkeling that we have found in the Caribbean is on the island of Bonaire. Beautiful, clear water and lots of fish. It is a Divers paradise. The Island itself is rather non-descript.A desert island, but the restaurants were terrific and not too expensive. People were great. Everything was nice and clean.Good weather and will definitely return for the snorkeling.
