Coconuts at Long Bay

Calling all Jamaica experts... Anyone ever stay at Coconuts on Long Bay. I have been to Negril several times so I thought I'd try something a little more remote. Will be taking my teenage daughter. You don't have to warn me about her getting bored. She's fine with reading, exploring, snorkelling and sunbathing.

Hi Tivertonhouse , or Cartera 25 ! I would be interested in some info. as well for Long Bay , we are in the process of setting up our little day trips etc. and had heard the beach was nice (big waves though) and thought to put it on our list of sights . Had read a bit of info. elsewhere about it , but I really trust your info. T.House . Your past help has been great and I am excited and counting down the days !! Faith

Coconuts/Long Bay/Westmoreland is about 20 min from Negril. You'll be on other end of island past Port Antonio, Willem...Liz recently did a round-the-island including the whole coast you're headed to. See her trip report on www.jamaicans.com . the westside wanderings bulletin board section.Long Bay up here sometimes has, for Jamaica, fairly good surfer waves = the area's relatively untouched, some cottages, a restaurant on the beach, some trad.Jamaica concrete villas, nothing stylee, nothing luxe -- laid back, but magnificent scenery.

Coconuts is in Little Bay and I wouldn't stay there at the moment either.

Little Bay would be a nice place to visit though, for the day from Negril.

Long Bay in Portland is beautiful and you really shouldn't miss it Faith! People talk about the undertow/waves but having grown up near Long Island beaches myself, I don't get the big deal...it's not near that kind of wavy, maybe in a storm or something...
