Club Med vs. Sandals???
I have never been to an all-inclusive resort. Can you compare the club med resorts in the Carribbean to the Sandals resorts? Which is the better "bargain?" I'm a single female in my 40's. Will I feel out of place? Do all these type of resorts charge a single supplement? Thanks for any advice.

Sandals is a "couples" resort so you may feel out of place.

SANDALs is a chain that only allows couples. You may want to consider Superclubs resorts (adults only-but allows singles & couples). We stayed at Nassau Superclubs and it was a real fun place. Bahamas was a great place and there was lots to do. We swam with dolphins (reserve early), parasailed, snorkeled & encountered a shark, etc... The resort is both couples & singles and I'd say there was a good mix of both. We went for July4th weekend so maybe there was more singles than usual???

Ah.........that's why Butch created the Beaches portion of the Sandals chain. Now He is not missing out on the
family, singles portion of the business that he previously had been with the couple only.

Jean, I can highly recommend Club Med for a single traveller. I have been to four Club Meds, and having tried some other kinds of resorts in the past few years, I am returning to a Club Med this spring. No other place, in my opinion, treats the single traveller as well as Club Med. Their single supplements are very low and they make sure that you meet lots of interesting people at meals and during the day with all their group activities.

I would be glad to answer any specific Club Med questions you may have.

Laura

Jean,
You will definitely feel "out of place" at a Sandals resort. I stayed at Club Med in Cancun years ago, and I had a blast! I met my roommate in the van on the way to the resort, and by the 2nd day had developed quite a large group of people to "hang" with. There is non-stop activity (if that's what you like), or places to be alone and by yourself. Club Med understands how difficult it can be sometimes for singles travelling alone to dine, and at mealtimes you will be placed at a table with several other people - who will all be friendly. (Of course, if you, like I, develop a large group of friends you can request to be seated together) The only drawback to Club Med is that their resorts are so FAR from anything. Great if you are the type to stay within the resort (and there is enough to do), but a hassle if you like to get out often. (Example: Club Med Cancun is 20 miles from the town)

I don't do the all-inclusive resort thing now, but I think you will have a great time if you stick with Club Med.

Have fun!
