Club Med on Paradise Island

Has anyone stayed at the Club Med on Paradise Island? We want to take advantage of the direct flight on JetBlue to Nassau but don't care for all the high rise properties. Does anyone have any ideas that would keep a windsurfer, a diver and a teenager happy that doesn't have 700 rooms? Thanks!!

You might try the Comfort Suites on PI, which is part of Atlantis (for teen) and just far enough away that it is alot more quiet. I think it is only 2 floors, with a very nice pool area and even a swim up bar.

On the other side of Nassau and even closer to the airport, is Compas Point, a very good restaurant there, and you are right on the water.

You also might think about Harbour Island, which has 2 dive shops, several nice restaurants and resorts and one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. You can fly into Nassau and take the ferry over.

I am excited about the JetBlue flights also. Have you heard what the fare is going to be yet?

I thought Club med was purchased by the Atlantis to make room for expansion.

To Wantsomesun: Thanks for your help. For our April travel dates, JetBlue round trip from JFK to Nassau is $246!! Let me know if you come up with any more ideas for properties we'd enjoy!

I think you would really enjoy the Club Med on PI. I went there some years ago with my parents and sister and we snorkeled, played water volleyball, windsurf, etc.

Closing of Club Med Paradise Island was announced for approx Aug. 03 due to Atlantis extension.

In June 04 it was still open, according to article in Nassau Guardian. "Club Med is not sure when it will close its doors, but intends to operate throughout the summer. We have not announced our final date of operations, but it would be announced shortly,"

Then there was another article talking about closing, right after Frances:

The website is not up-to-date, there has never been a word about closing.

This Club Med website http://www.clubmed.com/usa/
only mentions the second Club Med on San Salvador (status? there were some reports about roof damage...).

If I were you, I'd call Club Med to make sure.

Club Med is definitely closed,Atlantis are going to use it to house construction workers for their phase 3 project,Compass Point got beat up during Frances and is apparently closed for repairs, also Sandals will be closed til 1st Oct for minor repair work, other than that all the hotels in nassau are open for business,as they have been since the storm passed. Also Jet Blue are scheduled to start service from Nov.1st.Laker Airlines which only used to serve Freeport have been flying to Nassau for a couple of months now.
