christmas time vacation
I will be a recently empty-nester and am looking for an upscale resort that is not inundated with children or that has an adult only option pool. I would like it to be a medium size resort with places to walk to(restaurants, shopping). We are looking for something somewhat quiet, but not stuffy. We are looking to go Christmas time. Any suggestions?

Considering that most upscale resorts are usually in more remote locations so there are limited options as far as "walk to restaurants and shopping" you should check out the following:
Caneel Bay, St. John Little Dix Bay or Biras Creek, Virgin Gorda Cusinart, Malliouhana or Cap Juluca, Anguilla Four Seasons, Nisbett Beach Plantation or Montpelier Inn, Nevis Sandy Lane, Barbados Eden Roc, Francois Plantation or Isle d'France Resort, St. Barths Keep in mind that Christmas is peak "high season" in the Caribbean so no matter where you go the resorts will probably be filled to capacity, you'll be paying the highest rates of the year and many, if not all, will have minimum stay requirements. Also, if you are talking about Christmas 2008 don't waste too much time making up your mind - alot of resorts are booked a year in advance for Christmas. |
You might add Pink Sands or Romora Bay to your search on Harbour Island.

Check out The Landings and Bay Garden Resort in St Lucia - both nicer, on the beach and within walking distance of restaurants, shops, etc.

We travel with our family to the Carib. every year for Christmas--we book 10 mo ahead. It's the busiest time, everything books up, extra charges and min. stays often apply--air in particular is gone early. I hope you find something.
