Children at Cotton House?
 

I am considering booking a trip to the Cotton House. It looks very private and upscale. A great place to relax for a week.

Can someone tell me -- Are kids allowed? Are there typically kids there? Or seldom?

Better to know ahead of time in case we need to factor that into our decision.

It's not clear from your post whether you want a place with kids or without. If you are looking for a wonderful, upscale "adults only" resort, try Curtain Bluff on Antigua. Pricey, but definitely worth it. We have been all over the Caribbean, and this is one of our favorites. Don't have any info about Cotton House.

I've never seen any children there, if that helps.

We would not want an upscale resort WITH kids. Cotton House doesn't look like the attracts or caters to children, but you never know.

I would not be interested in Antigua (for this trip anyway). I am focusing on the Grenadines/Tobago Cays.

I did see a couple of very young children at the Cotton House, but honestly they were not a disturbance. The only time I saw children was on the beach and they were tended to by their parents. There were never any children in the fine dining restaurant, and I never saw any children by the pool. You are correct in describing the property as private and upscale. Plus it takes extra effort to get there (need to take extra flight) so I don't think it tends to attract a lot of families. Hope this helps. I would highly recommend the Cotton House even if you might run into a child or two.

This is a very late response, but The Cotton House does allow kids of all ages - at least it did in 2002. I had a wonderful, wonderful time there but there were probably 3 families with kids below 12, including an infant in the room below us. This is one of only a very few criticisms I could make about the hotel.

The Cotton House is popular with British celebrities and their kids, Jerry Hall is a regular, although her kids are now a bit older.

I've just checked out their website - Phew! Too expensive for my tastes, we could have 3 good vacations for that price - is it worth it?

Children do stay at The Cotton House from time to time. However, because of the kind of traveller that tends to stay at the The Cotton House the children tend to be very well behaved.

Every week the Cotton House hosts an island wide cocktail party all guests of the hotel, all villa owners and their guests and all villa renters are invited to mix mingle and meet. There will of course be children their that evening. Also the Cotton House (at least last year) hosted a children's movie night once a week where they projected movies outdoors on the side of a building. Again everyone on the island was welcome.

But having said all of that Cotton House is much more of an adult place (although my children have loved staying there).

By the way, I doubt very highly that Jerry Hall and more particularly her children ever ever stayed at the Cotton House.

Is the quality of the snorkeling around Mustique high quality if you were there in past 12-18 months?

I thought it was pretty good. One of the reasons for this is that there is no spearfishing allowed on the reefs surrounding the island. So the fish are quite fearless compared to some other places.

We stayed a the Cotton House last May and there were a few kids (4 or 5) there during our stay. For the most part, they were really well behaved but there was a toddler in the building next door and there was a fair amount of screaming. I had just assumed that they did not allow children but Mustique was much more of a family destination than I expected. There were children in the dining room at breakfast but I never saw a child a dinner.

The Firefly is a Adult only so if you don't want to run into children, that is a great place to stay. By the way, I didn't think the snorkelling at Cotton House was very good.
