Chickunga mosquito

How bad are they in the Bahamas or other islands. I am a senior going there & I am concerned

WWK Mar 7th, 2015 07:17 AM

They are in almost every island and some of Florida now. The best thing you can do is bring a really good insect spray with you and use it liberally.

The CDC says that this particular mosquito bites day and night, so make sure you spray yourself very well with a product that contains DEET.

Just use bug spray you'll be fine

The epidemic has already peaked and is gone in St Thomas, but each island has a different pattern.

What type of repellent should we use to prevent this?

blamona Mar 9th, 2015 04:26 PM

anything with DEET

OFF spray is fine

We used lots of OFF when we were in the Caribbean this January, and escaped unscathed. I've heard that several countries are spraying resort areas, and that as mentioned above, "the epidemic has peaked."
