Caymans vs. Bermuda- March

I am trying to decide where to take my (young) wife for a relaxing, pampered vacation. We've narrowed our options to Grand Cayman and Bermuda. We are planning our vacation for the first week of March. We were leaning towards Bermuda (barely), but a friend suggested that it might be too cold in Bermuda.

Advice on the two is welcome, including if the early March weather should eliminate Bermuda from consideration.

Thank you.

Bermuda will be chilly that time of year. I highly recommend Grand Cayman. have been to Bermuda once (in March) and Cayman 3 times with our 4th coming mid April. Please don't waste your money on a trip where you can't enjoy the climate.

"Gardenlady" is right! However, DON'T scratch Bermuda off your list as it, too, is a wonderful island, best enjoyed in July/August, in my opinion.

Cayman hands down- Bermuda will be cold.

Thank you for all of your helpful advice.

John....Just to let you know, Bermuda is never "cold". Usually at that time of year, the temp is in the 60's and 70's during the day...cooler at night. If you're looking for a hot climate in March, then Cayman's would be better, but you really should give Bermuda a try some time...it's beautiful and unlike most islands, you don't have to stay just at your resort...the entire island is your resort. Summer is quite hot and the temperate of the ocean is in the 80's but spring and fall are wonderful as well, warm and not quite so humid.

Go to www.bermudaweather.bm to check out weather for the past 6 years.

Bermuda's weather gets really nice around mid-May, but hotter in July.

Grand Cayman (of the 2 you noted) is the warmer spot in March.

Well, Bermudian, while Spring is a great time to go, I found through experience that it is also, unfortunately, PORTUGUESE MAN O'WAR season (as I'm sure you well know), and therefore, NOT very pleasant to get into the water at that time which, in my opinion, is still too cold at that time of year!

John, At that time of the year it's a little cooler in Bermuda ( possibly, rainy) so I'd suggest either Caymans or St.Martin. Bermuda IS the most beautiful island in the world, in my opinion. It is picturesque, clean and appears to be out of storyland! I've spent much time in Bermuda, having represented a hotel on Bermuda ( in a previous life:) )....Bermuda is wonderful and should be visited between May - October, if you're interested in the beaches ( which also, are fantastic!) However, other times of the year are great for exploring, playing tennis, golf etc. The weather is never cold in Bermuda, merely cooler in Winter than the Caribbean......perhaps 60's - 70's...sort of like the Carolinas.
Please visit sometime, even if just for a weekend and you'll understand what I mean!
Wherever you go.....enjoy!
Contessa

Have visited Bermuda several different times throughout the year. My favorite is right after Labor Day. The weather is still warm, the water temperature is nice, and the kids are in school. Whenever you go, you will not be disappointed. Bermuda is a class act!

John-
You should listen to your friend. The replies you have received really spell it out. Why else would Bermuda be in it;s low season now. Enjoy the man o war jellyfish.
