Cayman restaurant
 

Hello. I am getting married on Grand Cayman this year. Family and a few close friends will be joing us and we'd like to treat everyone to a nice dinner after the ceremony. Can anyone recommend a really good restaurant? Preferably overlooking the water.<BR><BR>Thank you kindly.

Not sure how many people you are buying dinner for, but Smuggler's Cove is easily the best restaurant on the island. It's right on the water in Georgetown, fabulous atmosphere. The service is top notch, and the food.....oh my!! You said you want really good, this is the best.

The Lobster Pot is also on the water at Georgetown. Best Lobster- and all the restaurants in the Caymans are expensive. Everything is expensive there.

Grand Old House is elegant and great food. Overlooks the water and has lots of atmosphere. Cracked Conch overlooks the water and has good food. And Papagallos is a neat place. It's one the edge of a lake but doesn't overlook the sea.

Try the Lighthouse @ the Breakers. Excellent food, right on the water w/ a great view. Expensive but well worth it. Enjoy!!! GC has many great restaurants!

Olivia,<BR><BR>I would go to the Reef Grill. Great food, right on the beach and they usually have a band on the beach at night so you could have entertainment following dinner. Call them to request a menu. You can't go wrong with this suggestion!!

I would stay away from the Lighthouse. It has an interesting setting, but is a bit of a drive from George Town. Worst of all, the service is below par and the food is average. It is also overpriced, even for Grand Cayman. We went for lunch last week and will never return.<BR><BR>The Reef Grill is less formal. While it is good, I don't find the food as awesome as many have posted here. My favorite places don't overlook the water, but I would consider The Wharf (expensive) or Casanova's (less expensive).

The key here is whether or not you mean a deck on the water or is it ok if the window overlooks the water? We think the world of Casanova's and the service is incredible. However, there is no deck, only the window. If you want the deck, next door is Smuggler's and you would also enjoy that. Grand Old House covers a lot of weddings and lots of outdoor space to eat. If you make early reservations, you can ask to eat further out. We ate there on Valentine's Day and they had white lights strung all over the trees. Not sure if they did it just for that or not,but it was very nice.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! My only issue now is choosing from all these places. I have no doubt though that we will be pleased with any these choices!

I have to second (and third) the vote for Smuggler's Cove. My husband and I went to Grand Cayman for our honeymoon in November and that was easily our favorite restaurant (and we had wonderful meals while we were there). The food was fabulous, the atmosphere beautiful and the service wonderful. We went their our first night, and returned for our last night on the island. You won't be disappointed. We're going back to Cayman for our first anniversary, and will definitely return to Smuggler's Cove. Good luck!

I also recommend Cracked Conch. Not a super expensive fancy place, but can't beat the view - rear of the restaurant is an open air covered deck right on the ocean.<BR>Just an FYI - you can check out any menus at caymanrestaurants.com.

Olivia,<BR><BR>To answer your question, yes, Smugglers is expensive, but most of the restaurants are pricey on GC. <BR><BR>I agree with cayman420 about the Reef Grill, but it's (not) on the water, which you mentioned you wanted.<BR><BR>I am from the Boston area, and have access to some amazing restaurants locally. I also have a background in the restaurant business. I think there are several very good restaurants on GC, but a few seem to 'out-shine' the others. Smugglers is simply one of the finest meals my wife &amp; I have (EVER) enjoyed. In 2 trips to GC, we always make sure to eat at Smugglers Cove &amp; also at the Reef Grill. If you want the waterfront setting, I couldn't more highly recommend Smugglers.<BR><BR>A few menu suggestions for Smugglers:<BR>They serve a couple appetizers that are fabulous. One is the Salmon/Shrimp/Lobster cakes, and the other is a Jerk Duck, both are incredible.<BR>For a main course, their signature dish of Lobster stuffed Filet Mignon is to die for. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Hope this helps!!
