cayman island/moderate priced resort
 

having never been to the cayman islands, i find i may be out of my budget. but, i really want to go. i've searched this site and don't find a lot of recent info for the islands. can anyone help me find a resort that won't cost me my lifesavings? should i look for all-inclusive? i've heard even the resturants are expensive. i don't want to stay in a budget hotel, but can't afford the 5 star luxury ones either. is there something in between? i really want to stay on the beach.

Have you looked at the TURTLE NEST INN?<BR>It's a few miles off Seven Mile Beach, near Bodden Town. We've not been there yet, but it looks lovely on their website and is quite reasonable. I've also read good things about it on this website. Try turtlenestinn.com, or look at it on Wheretostay.com

We spent months planning our grand cayman trip and ended up staying at the Turtle Nest Inn. It was the most reasonable we could find at the time. It was nice, clean and on the beach. While we were there we toured Sunshine Suites which are fine too but across the beach in the 7 mile beach area. I don't think you find any better value for the money than these two places.

Yu didn't mention what you wanted to pay per night, but we stayed at the Treasure Island condos right on Seven Mile Beach. I just checked their website, http://www.ticondos.com/TIrates.htm<BR>and a one bedroom gardenview is $195 a night. There is also a Treasure Island Resort right next door. I've booked several vacations through American Airlines (www.aavacations.com) and they usually have good air/hotel combo prices. Hope this helps. (And Treasure Island is a great place - right on the beach and has a tiny reef right offshore for handy snorkeling).

Just returned last month from GC for the third time. You will probably not find a better bargain on 7-mile beach than Treasure Island. If you are going for economy, you don't need the Condos. I stayed at the hotel (for the second time) and had a nice, clean room. Every room has a refrigerator. If you are trying to budget meals, you need to go to Foster's Food Fair and buy breakfast and lunch stuff for your room and refrigerator. Then you won't mind spending for dinner. There are wonderful restaurants there and the prices are no higher than a nice evening out to dinner in any metropolitan area. Depends on how much you order in the way of appitizers, entres, desserts and alcohol. Have a great time . . . wish I was still there!!
