Cayman hotel help!
 

Hi,<BR><BR>I'm trying to plan a spring(April) vacation for my wife and myself and am seriously considering the Caymans. We haven't had a vacation since our son was born 18 months ago, so we really want somewhere that's above average and possibly has a spa. Any suggestions? Thanks!

But beware that none of the rooms at the Hyatt are on the beach. They're across the road, about a quarter mile walk.<BR>They've built some villas on the beach, but even in low season they're like $800 per night (or they were last summer).<BR>Hyatt is, though, the best full service resort. Westin is the best hotel on the beach itself.

I would suggest The Avalon condos. We stayed there over Thanksgiving, and it was perfect! The pool was oceanfront, small, but very clean. Our condo was oceanfront, had two balancy, and it had a great oceanfront living room and bedroom. My son even had a king size bed and t.v. in his room. We had a washer/ drier and maid service. Plus we had lounge chairs and fresh beach towels. It is also located on a very nice section of seven mile beach. The Westin is also a nice hotel, but the Avalon blows it away except for the pool. I wouldn't stay at the Marriott if you want a good beach. The beach has been washed away there. The Hyatt is a nice resort but most of the rooms are across the street from the beach.

Thanks guys...I really appreciate all your input. I should've said that my wife and I are going alone and leaving our 18 month old with the in-laws. Does that change anyone's opinions?

Hi,<BR>We just stayed at the Aqua Bay Club, and we loved it. It's on a gorgeous piece of SMB, and the property is clean and well taken care of. Gail in the office is wonderful.<BR><BR>The pool is smallish but clean, and there's a hot tub, too. It's only a short walk to Cemetary Beach, and walking the other way, you can pass by several properties and check them out for future visits. <BR><BR>After seeing other properties, we were even more glad we'd chosen the ABC. It all depends on what you want ...<BR><BR>We had a terrible winter here a few years ago and mid February I picked up the phone, called the travel agency and said GET ME OUT OF HERE ... whereupon of course they wanted to have some idea of where ? After slowing down for a second or two I finally said Cayman. Given that I wanted to be there almost instantly, all the major hotels were already fully booked (Thank God). But then as I said depends on what you want to do when you're there. Personally I want a nice quiet room and I don't really care if the place I'm in offers several restaurants as long as there are good ones nearby. In Cayman there are and we ate in a different one every night. The travel agency booked us into this little place that probably no one has ever heard of, but it was clean, comfortable, QUIET separate one floor condos on the beach a few doors down from the Hyatt, some withone bedroom, some with two. I found it amusing when we walked by the Hyatt on the beach and could barely get past given how close the lounge chairs were to each other, while the place we stayed at had a wider section of beach where no more than two or three couples were at any time on any day. As I said for me it's more about what's outside the place your staying then the place itself and if you are not into fancy hotels and big crowds I'd recommend this place to any &amp; everyone. http://www.caribclub.com
