Cayman Dollars

Hello all...it has been a few years since I have visited Grand Cayman and I am going back next week. Can someone plese tell me if I need Cayman dollars or if US is fine.

Thanks.

If I remember correctly you are fine with US. They will of course give you Cayman money back.

U.S. works just fine and your change is calculated in $CI. Many of the registers in grocery stores and other shops actually calculate automatically, we usually just as for the price in U.S. if we aren't using a credit card.

For hoots, I have a $10 CI bill in my wallet. I've carried it for years and the family joke is that we just have to go back to Cayman so I can spend it. Somehow I always manage to come home with another $CI 10 bill which of course means another trip to Cayman. So far, 8 trips in last 7 years!

Thanks very much. I can only hope that I too come home with $CI 10 bill so that I have to go back. Thanks again.

Not only does everyone accept US dollars, but unlike some countries, you get a flat rate of 80 cents CI - US$1.00 everywhere, so you don't have to worry about being ripped off on the rate depending on where you go.
