Carribean snorkling destinations?

I am planning a trip for my family in May, and the most important factor for me is a resort where there is snorkling directly off the beach. I stayed at the Westin in Grand Cayman, and I could swim out 50 yards to a reef whenever I wanted to; no tours, no waiting for a boat, etc. Are there any other places with this same quality?

Note that I am asking about ANY Carribean destination, not just the Cayman Islands

Try Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos. You can swim right out from certain spots along Grace Bay Beach.

Cozumel is also known for excellent snorkeling.

Mark
enjoyyourtravel.com

Hi Erdoc! St. John in the USVI has fantastic snorkeling from ths shore. Just stay anywhere on the island and rent a jeep and go from beach-to-beach, most of them have reefs off-shore.

There are lots of places to do that in the Bahamas as well. Harbour Island just off N. Eleuthera has a huge reef about 100 feet from the beach. Also you can arrange a picnic to an off island, just go to the dock and ask one of the water taxi's to take you to an island where you can swim and snorkle all day to your hearts content and then have someone pick you up at the end of the day, just remember to bring LOTS of sunscreen.

Secret Harbor Beach Resort in St. Thomas. Great suites, right on a great, white, sandy cove beach, with great snorkelling right off the beach.

I resent the word "Americanized".

Well that was nice. That was supposed to go on the Cuba thread.
Oh well. Now you all know my feelings about that word too :-)
