Caribtraveler - Culebra

Hi. I don't mean to alarm you, but you may want to check your Costa Bonita reservation. It appears the resort is closed (unexpectedly? for renovations?) and someone else on another forum who had reservations for November got an email that the resort is closed for an indeterminate period of time but their credit card has already been charged in full. CB does not have the best reputation in Culebra. We had originally booked there but cancelled and switched a few weeks prior to our trip. I didn't want to say anything negative, but I think you should at least be aware.

mymoosie, I read the same thing. When are you going and where are you staying. We are going in January and staying at Casa Ensenada. The owners are from Minnesota and the reviews have been very good on CE. Owa

Mymoosie: You are so sweet. Thank you. My husband did get an e-mail from them. So we're okay. I was aware of the Costa Bonita reputation but the problems stated were not big issues for me. I care more about cleanliness than non-existant staff/restaurant, etc... Anyway, my husband asked me what I wanted to do (trip is my birthday present from him). I looked and looked and looked and frankly all the other accomodations scare me. As I'm sure you know, reviews are all so over the place for accomodations on the island. So I told him let's do Vieques. So many hard decisions in life.

Owa: Not sure if you're asking me or Mymoosie. She already went and stayed at the Palmetto Guest House. Right Mymoosie? (read your trip report). Anyway, we're going to Vieques mid-january, the weekend of MLK day.

you can always go to Culebra for the day. I beleive you can fly Air Flamenco out of Vieques for $25 per person, one way.

mahobaygirl: Thanks but this trip is really short. Going on a Friday, coming back on a Monday. We'll definitely do Culebra one day in the future.

Hi Owa. I didn't realize (or maybe I just forgot) you were doing both islands. We'll be in Vieques January 12-15 and staying at the Martineau Bay Resort & Spa. That resort was scheduled to close for renovations but they decided to stay open through high season. We'll be with our little one on this trip so resorts make our lives much easier.

caribtraveler - Oh good, glad you were already aware. Yes, we stayed at Palmetto Guest House. It was very clean but very sparse. Next time we think we would stay at Club Seabourne.

Looking forward to your's and owa's Vieques trip report & photos. That's on my list (long list!) of islands to visit.

Oh, I'm glad you're going to Vieques instead because now you can do the biobay tour. Definitely a not-to-be-missed experience, and Patrick will be sure to love it! What a nice birthday present you have to look forward to!
